WOTAN'S ENGAGEMENTS
Considerable interest will be centred in the form displayed by Wotan during, the-autumn m Sydney., The victory he registered in the Melbourne Cup at Flemington last November, was invested with such a fine dash •of brilliancy as to place him well in the limelight as a high-class stayer, and it is pleasant reading to learn that the son of Siegfried 'is to be given an opportunity of endorsing his .spring performance in another leading two miles event in Australia, in/the: autumn. Wotan is engaged in the Doncaster Handicap, one mile, to be run on the opening day of the Australian Jockey Club's Meeting on March 27, and in which he has been allotted 8.13. But the Sydney Cup, two miles, to be run on March 29, and in which he figures with 8.12, is the event that will rivet most, attention/ With an impost only 21b below weight-for-age, he has no doubt receivedhisfull deserts, v but he cannot be regarded as haj.-shly treated considering the high character of his finishing effort in the Melbourne Cup.
