DUKE OF WINDSOR'S IDEA
The Duchess of Gloucester is keeping the Adam green tone of the suite of reception rooms at York House, states the • "Daily Telegraph." These four rooms can be' thrown into one, and some of.the dividing doors are of mirrored glass. The walls will. be ■ cleaned but not repainted.
The Duke of Windsor during his long period-of residence at York House had the hall arid staircase pickled. This appeals to the Duchess of Gloucester.: She has taken keen interest in the redecoration in sunny cream tones of the 20 bedrooms and sitting-rooms for the household staff.
The new central heating system is carried into all these rooms, which will be kept at a temperature of 50deg. Electric fires are also, being" installed.
Farmhouse red. tiles now pave the kitchens. The Duchess wants to copy, where possible, the perfectly-planned kitchen at Marlborough House, evolved by Queen Mary-
