(From "The Post's" Representative.) NELSON, February 25.

The outcome of Miss Elizabeth Blake's talk at the Women's Club recently was the formation of a Nelson branch of the British Drama League at a very well-attended and representative meeting held in the Cathedral Sunday School. Mrs. H. Atmore was in the chair, and explained the objects of the league. A hope was expressed that all who were interested in dramatic art would join, and so strengthen the league in the work it sets out to do. There were representatives present from the various branches of the W.D.F.U. and the Women's Institutes. The following officers were elected: — President, Mrs. H. Atmore; vice-presi-dents, Mrs. C. Y. Fell (Nelson), Mrs. F. Newman (Murchison), Mr. A. S. James; committee, the Dean of Nelson, the Rev. P. B. Haggitt (chairman) Miss J. Tomlinson •. (honorary secretary and treasurer), Mesdames Campbell, Waghorn, Moynihan, Corby, Miss B. Aydon, and Messrs. H. S. Leggatt, R. Kingsford, J. Russell, and Dr. Class.-

A most enjoj able morning was spent one day last week at "Te Maunga," the home of Mrs. Atmore, by the wives of visiting oandsmen and officials. The morning was bright and the view from the lovely big room is among the finest in Nelson. Among those invited to meet the visitors were Mesdames Wm. Lock, G. L. Page, J. A. Harley, and Kingsford.

A very novel and enjoyable luncn party was given recently by Mrs. W. W. Squires in honour of Mrs. Browa. who is staying with Mrs. A. C. Leggatt, and also in honour' of Mrs. and Miss Easterfield, who will leave shortly for England. The table was beautifully decorated and each guest received a charming token.' The guests included Mesdames J. Williams, Leggatt, H. C. Cock, Samuel, and Squires.

Mr. and Mrs. Evan Lcggatt and Mi and Mrs. H. S. Leggatt entertained a large number of friends at the BrooK tennis courts last weekend. The afternoon was cloudless, and the six courts were occupied the whole time. The matches were very keenly contested and the competition was won by Miss D. Hayes and Mr. S. Duncan. A' very welcome tea was laid in the shady part of the attractive grounds, and later cool drinks were much appreciated by the players who had striven hard for three hours. ' Some of the guests present were Captain and Mrs. A. Campbell, Major and Mrs. Lorimer, Mr. and Mrs. R. Hunt, Dr. and Mrs. Williams, Dr. and Mrs. Low, Mr. and Mrs. V. Rout; Mesdames A. Leggatt. J. Glasgow, R. H. Davies; and the Misses' Easterfield, Letty Levicn, E. Gray, Hayes; and Messrs. Duncan <3V Hamilton, and Beattie. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr and Mrs. Vernon R6ut,.Miss Mary Rout, and Mr. M. Rout left a few days ago for Dunedin. , ..•■■.. Mr. and Mrs. C.-H. Broad have gone to the West Coast for a.few days.
