ROAD WORKS PROPOSAL'

BRITISH APPEAL FOR PRESERVATION

LONDON, February 24.

The Brussels correspondent of "Tha Times" states that the question of the preservation of the battlefield of Waterloo is causing concern in British, and Belgian circles.

Belgium legislated in 1914 to prevent encroachment on the battlefield, but the provincial authorities now proposa road works which would alter the ap» pearance of the area adjacent to the mound on which the famous Lion of Waterloo stands. The British Ambassador has sent a letter to the Minister urging action "to protect one of the, most interesting points on the battlefield."
