BOARD OF CONTROL
The weekly /meeting of the Wellington Rugby League Board of Control Was attended by Messrs. V. Simpson (chairman), L.- Benseman, E. Dale, E. Elliot, H. Wisnesky, G, Bradley, G. | O'Leary, and W. Holland. ; , A letter was received from Auckland congratulating the board on the splendid play and bearing of J. G. Cootes, Wellington's representative in the first Test match against England. ■, Intimation was given by the chairman. Mr. -V. Simpson, that a large party of- enthusiasts would be travelling on the.special excursion train to Auckland for the second Test and that' Wellington officials would be the guests of the New Zealand Rugby League Council for the match. The necessity for uniform interpretation of rules was expressed and clubs were: asked to co-operate with the referees' association and to see that players were thoroughly coached in the "play the ball" and "offside" rules. It was decided to invite the Auckland Rugby League Maori representatives to. play the Wellington thirteen at Wellington, captained by Lou Brown. The Maori team includes S. Watene, E. Pickrang, and Jack Hemi, who are playing in the Tests with England The finals of the Board of Control and Buckland Cup competitions will be played on Saturday and the draw is:—
Senior final: St. George v. Petone at Newtown Park, at 3 p.m. Referee •Mr. Kennedy; Central v. Hull at Petone, at 3 p.m. Referee, Mr. Childs Reserve grade final: St. George 'v Petone, at Newtown Park, at 1 45 p m Referee, Mr. Finlay.
