RESUMPTION OF DEBATE
INCIDENCE OF TAXATION
Only two speeches were delivered in the House of Representatives last night, when the Financial Debate was resumed, and both were broadcast over national stations. .The first speaker was the Hon. A. Hamilton (National, Wallace), who attacked the Budget on the score that it over-emphasised spending and under-emphasised the creation and conservation of wealth; and the other was Mr. J. Thorn (Government, Thames), who defended it on the grounds that it set out a gratifying record of social achievement and economic development, even though those on the Government benches admited that it had shortcomings.
