MAORI JURY WANTED
THE REQUEST REFUSED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
GISBORNE, This Day. An application for an all-Maori jury in a case in which Tahiti Toki was charged with indecent assault on a young girl was refused by his Honour Mr. Justice Blair in the Supreme Court today. The Crown objected to the application on the ground that the girl was not a Maori according to the Act.
His Honour said that although he had tried many cases where Maoris were involved he had never had such a request before.
