REPLAY REFUSED

PERUVIANS WITHDRAW

(Received August 11, 10.30 a.m.) BERLIN, August 10. • The special representative of the Australian Associated Press agency reports that the Association football match between Peru and Austria, which caused a disturbance yesterday, was ordered to be replayed today, owing to Austrian allegations of unfairness by the Peruvians. The Peruvians, however, refused to play the match again and their committee's decision was upheld by the receipt of a cable from Lima ordering the immediate withdrawal of the team from the Olympic Games. An official stated: "We won the match against Austria, against dirty play, against dirty refereeing, and against a prejudiced linesman." The Austrian team took the field at the appointed time today, but the Peruvians did not appear and the match, from which the public was excluded, was awarded to Austria.
