A MINIMUM OF NOISE
The League for Less Noise of Ne\« York gave a dinner recently in honour of Lord Hprder, physician-in-ord« mary to King Edward. There was nl applause for the speakers. The dineri signified approval by raising theif hands. There was ho orchestra, not singing, and no radio. A red signal light at the head of the table flashed whenever the noise in the room c* ceeded a scientifically-determined limit. The guests were provided with a mini* mum of silverware, and waiters werl warned against clattering crockery. Lord Horder is the head of London'f League for Less Noise, and will alsd be remembered for his championship of noise abatement during his visit to Melbourne at the time of the Centenary celebrations. . .
