HAWERA TRACK NOTES

(Special from "Limited.")

HAWERA, This Day.

Including ten. horses engaged in the hunters' events the Hawera centre has twenty horses listed to compete at the Combined Hunt Clubs' Meeting commencing ,on August 27 at New .Plymouth. .

J. Fryer holds a strong hand in the Jumping events with Oriel, Cynical Kid, Indiscretion, and Panloff. The first three are engaged at the Pakuranga Meeting on August 22; Oriel, who has run second on his last two appearances, can be expected to run well in the hack hurdle race as he is holding, his condition well. Fryer "deserves success for. his patience and persistency with Cynical Kid who, if' he continues as at present, will contest the [Pakuranga Hunt Cup* for which event he will command a lot of respect. During the past week Cynical Kid worked solidly with One Whetu over a round, pulling up sounder than usual.

Indiscretion is well ■ seasoned now and jumps well, but has yet to show anything approaching form.

The Cynic hunter Sceptic in M. Conway's ' stable continues to impress in his work and schooling, and promises to keep the opposition busy in hunters' events.. .

Star View is the name, bestowed on the Sandstar—Sea View hunter in the same stable who is also shaping satisfactorily in her work.. A good-looking soft she is to contest.the hunters' flat events on each day at New Plymouth.

A good cut of a hunter by Sandstar from the Hallowmas mare Solemnity is to race as King Pluto. He is the right' stamp to develop into a useful 'chaser. Glenthawn and Supreme Court will represent J. Fryer's stable at New Plymouth. . Glenthawn is working- particularly well and Supreme Court, who, is looking in great order, is to race on the second day.

T. Fryer will have four horses—Advance Plane, who is well forward, Gold Mission, the hunter Callamost, and Kia Ora, the last-named to race on the concluding day. ...

W. Grindlay is preparing the hunter Mint Tour, a capable jumper; who, like several of the hunters, would be better served had they been placed in regular training earlier.

"J. Brown's three-year-olds, Notium, Kia Tere, and Shemseh, are in excellent order to be wound up for their events. Notium has fashioned into an ideallooking sprinter and' should not be long in getting •on the winning list. Kia Tere is a real Captain Bunsby and impresses in his work.

Of the other. three-year-olds. International, Student Prince, and Gold Band are doing really welL The trip of One Whetu to Australia is practically assured and International is likely to accompany him. ■
