RECORD DISTRIBUTION OF £16,000
EDUCATIONAL k CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS
TOTAL GRANTS EXCEED £229,000
A-distribution of £16,000 to charitable and educational institutions and objects in the provincial district of Wellington was authorised at the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Thomas George Macarlhy Trust, which was held in Wellington today. This is the largest sum distributed in any year since the commencement of the trust.
The following table shows tin allocation for each year since the trust commenced to operate:^-
The total distribution now exceeds £229,000. There were present at the mealing his Excellency llie GovernorGeneral (Lord Galway), the Prime Minister (the Rl. Hon. M. J. Savage), his Grace Archbishop O'Shea, his Worship the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), the Public Trustee (Mr. E. O. Hales), and the Assistant Public Trustee (Mr. W. G. Baird).
