TIME TRIAL HELD
ROAD CYCLING EVENT
Eighteen: competitors faced the starter in a 26-mile road cycling time trial event promoted by the Poneke Club on Saturday. The course led from the Central Fire Station to Johnsohville, across to Makara, down through Karori to' Thorndon and back to the fire station. A sealed handicap race was held in conjunction with the event. R. Dutton of Poneke, .won the time trial, and N. McLeod, of Poneke, the sealed handicap event. ■ The junior sealed handicap, decided on a race to Petone and return, was won by V. B. Mountjoy, of Poneke, with H. Kent, of.Petone, victor in the time trial. The breezy northerly made the senior event a severe test, and several competitors did not complete the course. The results were as follows: SENIOR TIME TRIAL. R. Dutton (Poneke),. scr, lhr 23min 55 3-ssec, 1; F. Franklyn (Port Nicholson), ficr, lhr 26min 48 l-ssec, 2; O Disley .(Port Nicholson), scr, lhr 27 mm 18 4-ssec, 3. HANDICAP PLACINGS. N. McLeod (Poneke), handicap 10 mm, adjusted time lhr 20min 29 4-5 sec, 1; C. Clarke (Poneke), 14min, lhr 22min ssec, 2; R. Triplow (Petone) 6min, lhr 22min 56 2-ssec, 3; A. Huxford (Poneke), 6min, lhr 22min 58sec, 4. ■ . JUNIOR RESULTS. " The junior sealed handicap, run in conjunction with the time trial resulted: V. B. Mountjoy (Poneke), handicap 4min, 43min 3 3-ssec, 1; K. Hayes (Poneke), 3min, 42min 42 3-ssec,2; B. Kay (Port Nicholson), 2min, 42min ssec, 3. Fastest time for the trial was won by. H. Kent (Petone), with B. Kay second, and K. Hayes third. Kent's time was 41nu'n 14 l-ssec, Kay's 42min ssec, and Hayes's 42min 42 3-ssec.
