• At the annual meeting of E.'Reece, Limited, hardware merchants, held this week, the chairman (Mr. A: P. A. Nicholls) expressed gratification at the satisfactory showing made during the last year. The hardware trade, he said, expected to benefit considerably from the plans of the Government for extensive building, and it was hoped that payment of higher wages would be offset by the fillip given to business by increased activity. The chairman took an optimistic view of the future Messrs. A. P. A. Nicholls and Thomas Dryburgh were re-elected to thej directorate, and the recommendation for' payment of a dividend of 3 per cent on preference shares was adopted.
