NGAIO AFFAIRS
TOWN HALL EXTENSION
Considerable discussion took place at last night's meeting of the Ngaio Progressive Association in connection with a plan, submitted by the City Council, for the extension of the Town Hall. Although the plan appeared to be generally satisfactory nothing definite was decided upon. In reply to the association's request for improvement of the footpath of Kenya Street the Town Clerk stated that, in view of the number of. streets in the suburb.which had no footpaths at all, it was not proposed to take any action until at least one footpath had been formed in those streets. h?uC^ ai rn\ an J (Mr- H- L- Cummings) said that he had managed to persuade the Wellington -Beautifying Society to include part of the Ngaio Gorge in its Hutt Road planting programme. There was one bad patch near the oil tanks he said, which would be greatly improved by the planting of trees. Kbwhais were to be planted and it was hoped that the national tree would help to kill the fennel which grew in such abundance there, as well as improve the appearance of the highway.
