' The divers signalled that they were about to gather shell. There were no further signals from them, and when .the lifelines were hauled in the tenders found only, the helmets and the corselets.

The pearlers believe that the divers had taken off their helmets to gather shell and that the boat drifted away too quickly, taking the helmets beyond reach of the stranded divers. ■
