The general forecast for the ■ Dominion as a whole, issued'at noon today, is for nortljsrly to north-westerly winds. These will be moderate to strong generally, and gale force will still be reached in places in and south of Cook Strait. Winds, however, will back later to the south-west. The weather in eastern' districts will be mainly fair, but elsewhere it will be squally and changeable with, rain at times, and the fain will extend later to scattered portions of eastern districts. Temperatures will become colder tomorrow.
A westerly depression crossed the Dominion last night and a second one is now approaching from across the Tasman Sea. Winds from between north and north-west have prevailed. These have been moderate to strong, and gale force has been occasionally reached in places. Rain has fallen in most districts with a-westerly, aspect, and in the far south there have been some heavy falls, the weather generally being unsettled and cloudy. In East> Coast areas, however, the weather has been of a more changeable nature and only a few isolated light showers have fallen there. Temperatures have continued "to be mild.. :
It was cloudy in Auckland both yesterday and last night, witha light wind from the north-east. At 9 a.m. today it was calm and fair.
Wellington's weather was cloudy and threatening, only 0.6 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. A strong northerly to north-westerly wind reached gale force at times during l>oth the day and night. , A few very light showers fell in the afternooc, but there was a heavier fall about midnight, the total fall at Kelburn being three points.
Christchurch had a mild day with changeable weather and a north-easter-ly breeze. It was mostly overcast in the morning, but the afternoon -was sunny. At 9 a.m. today it was cloudy with a light wind from the east-north-east . ..'■'■
It has been mild and fair in. Dunedin with a light north-westerly wind. This morning's weather was overcast with a light northerly wind.
