YACHTING

PLIMMERTON CLUB

On Saturday last the Plimmerton Boating Club held its twelfth annual general meeting. ' Owing to the inclement weather conditions the attendance was smalL but all present expressed a keen enthusiasm to help the progress of the club.

The financial position disclosed by the balance-sheet was very satisfactory despite several large items of expenditure considered necessary,- and the committee were heartily thanked for its work in the past year, especially with regard "to the successful laying of permanent buoys for racing. A special vote of thanks to the ladies' committee was passed for its good work during the season.

On the racing side, the club came very close to winning the Cornwell Cup, and the hope was expressed that a win would be achieved next year. Intsr-club racing was a prominent featura in the season's programme, and the club offered its congratulations to the Paremata Club for its successes in these races.

The following officers were elected for the new season:—Patroh, Mr. J. \V. Barnes; president, Mr. R. L. Button; vice-presidents. Messrs. H. S. BarroA; W. E. Cathie, O. A. Moller, and A. W. Thompson; commodore, Mr. E. W. Burd; vice-commomdore, Mr. E. A. Watson; rear-commodore, Mr. F. Ross; club captain,' Mr. C. Swift; secretary, Mr. G. E. Red ward; treasurer, Mr. D. I. Barron; committee, Messrs. R. Hill, E. Pickering, A. Me Arthur, H. W. Thompson, and W. A. Thompson; timekeepers and starters', Messrs. Watson and Ross; handicappers, Messrs. Ross and Pickering; delegates to association. Messrs. H. W. Thompson, C. Swift, and G. E. Redward; social committee,: Mesdames Redward, Burd, Mildenhall, Watson, and Black, and Messrs. Nimmo, H. Cathie, and O'Donoghue; auditors, Messrs. O. M. Lane and E. Pickering; reporter, Mr. E. A. Watson.
