LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

MELROSE-HOUGHTON BAY

BRANCH

-The second meeting of the new Mel-rose-Houghton Bay branch of the League of Mothers was held recently ■in,the Melrose Hall, and was very well attended.

Mrs. H. W, Kersley presided and warmly welcomed all those present, including representatives . from' other branches. Miss Joy Sutherland, accompanied by Miss Finlay, sang two delightful solos and was warmly applauded, regeiving a shoulder spray from Mrs. Kersley.

The subject for the afternoon was "Three Aspects of the League." Mrs. Kersley explained very fully the methods of organisation, showing the value of organised distribution of responsibilities, which has proved so successful in other branches. She also suggested several types of meetings which would be interesting and helpful to members. Mrs. Kersley gave a very beautiful. thought from one of Fay Inchfawn's books—"We are not asked to complete all our works. Only one Being in the Universe is both Author fend Finisher. We are asked to begin tjjem, and to leave something behind us for others to find."

Mrs. Jenson explained the financial side of the^work and stressed the point that the league cannot be used in any way whatsoever for ,raising money for outside objects however worthy those objects may be.

. Afternoon tea was served by members of the provisional committee, during which several additional names were handed in for membership. After discussion it was agreed that the branch should meet on the fourth Tuesday in each month.
