In-future bird study will take a more important' place in 'the school curriculum than has been the case in the past, if the suggestions made to'teachers by the Wellington Education Board are put into practice. The study of birds will be taken as a continuous subject, providing for real observational work under the" guidance of teachers. A particular aim of the scheme is to lead children from a thoughtless destruction of nests and eggs to an appreciation of the beauty and utility of bird. life. This study of bird life will also provide an interesting hobby for leisure hours.
