CONDUCT OF WRESTLING
TROUBLE AT THE GAMES
(Received August 5, 2.10 p.m.)
BERLIN, August 4.
The special representative of the Australian Associated Press agency reports that the manager of the Australian team, Mr. Alderson, withdrew his protest against this morning's de-_ cision against the wrestler Scarf, the' officials having indicated that the protest had little chance of being upheld. Mr. Alderson, with other dissatisfied nations, meaning the majority, is proceeding to lay a general complaint against the. conduct of the tournament. Trouble in the wrestling events at Olympic Games is a- common experience, but at Berlin it has touched ludicrous heights.
Australia's disappearance from the wrestling is not surprising after the puzzling interpretations which have been current throughout the tournament. ' -
A fall can be secured here without pinning a man and O'Hara went out in a rolling fall when going for another hold.
The verdict for Siebert against Scarf was unanimous, after ■ what looked like an extremely close bout.
