VIENNA, August 3,
The Czech Press is raising the question of colonies for countries of the Little Entente, and suggests that if Germany advances her claims at die Locarno Conference the Little Entente should make its desires known.
It is stressed that Czechoslovakia, like Poland, needs an- outlet for her surplus population.
Contending that she is unable to support her population within her present frontiers, Poland proposes to bring a claim for colonies before the League of Nations. A cable from Warsaw published last Saturday referred to a communique from the Polish Foreign Office stating that Poland shows the greatest natural increase in population in Europe, and that it is the duty of the League to deal with the problems of the vast territories in South Africa and South America which are almost uninhabited and could be given to Poland for colonisation. It was also suggested that England and France should provide capital under the guarantee of the League. The claim for colonies has been urged for some time, but this is the first official demand. It was said to be believed that Italy had promised support for the claim. ]
