PROGRESS REPORTED

Mrs. Martin Elgar was elected as a member of executive and a vice-presi-dent of the association at a recent meeting of the Wellington Free Kindergarten Council;

A report upon the progress of the "Snow Ball" parties was received, Showing that, up to date approximately; £112 has been raised. The council tendered sincere thanks to all who have assisted to make this, effort such a success. Further amounts are, .of course, still outstanding, and should be forwarded: without; delay to Mrs. Dowsett, 196 Taranaki Street.

Arrangements were fully discussed in connection with the forthcoming New Zealand Free Kindergarten Union conference to be held in Wellington this month. It was reported that Miss Nancy Parsons, Christchurch, who is the fourth Kindergarten student from New Zealand to receive a Carnegie Travelling Scholarship, is leaving almost immediately for U.S.A. Each of the four training centres have now received a Carnegie Scholarship, and the experience made possible as a result of these grants has been of very great value to k the Kindergarten movement throughout the Dominion.

During the month the second of | a series of discussion evenings has been held, Dr. Beeby leading and taking.for his subject "Children's Fears." A very interesting evening was spent, Dr. Beeby answering questions and showing how difficulties and problems could be faced and overcome.
