GOVERNMENT HOUSE
NEW OFFICIAL SECRETARY
His. Excellency the Governor-Gene-ral has approved of the appointment of Mr. D. E. Fouhy as Official Secre-
tary to his Excellency in succession to Sir Cecil Day, C.M.G., C.8.E., who has "resigned.
The new Official Secretary is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Fouhy, of Christchurch. An old boy of the Ashburton High School, he "was appointed to the head office of the Post and Telegraph Department as a cadet in 1908. He remained in that branch of the service until 1918, when he was seconded for duty, during Lord Liverpool's regime, at Government House. Two years later he returned to the Post and Telegraph Department as personal secretary to the then head of the Department, but rejoined the Government House staff during Sir Charles Fergusson's term of office in 1925, since which time, with the exception of a few months, he has been attached to the official staff of the Governor-General.
