On Saturday evening his Excellency the Governor-General attended the annual communication of the District Grand Lodge of Wellington' at the Masonic Temple, The Terrace. This evening, commencing at 8.40, his Excellency will broadcast on the subject of "Arbor Day." Tomorrow, morning, at 10 o'clock, Her Excellency, Lady Galway, will open the annual meeting of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society. Her Excellency will broadcast at 5 p.m. to children on the'subject of "Arbor Day," and in the evening will attend the birthday dinner of the Pioneer Club. " ".' "■''
The Minister of Labour' (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong), who was confined to his home last week owing ■to ■ illness, has novv recovered and this morning he was present at a. meeting of Cabinet. It is his intention..to. leave for Christchurch on Saturday evening and to return to Wellington: on the following Wednesday. . . ' <

An elderly woman who jives at St. Heliers left her purse • with £320 in notes in the bus on Thursday night, and within, two hours had it restored to her (states the "New Zealand Herald"). That afternoon she had withdrawn the money from-the bank-to pay a deposit on a farm property.: riAnother woman on the bus noticed; the purse lying on a seat and when;she reached home she examined-' the' contents of the purse and learned the'identity of the owner.
