RATE DEMANDS
PETONE AND EASTBOURNE
The Petone Borough Council has issued 2100 rate demands of a total value of £33,200. If the rates are paid before August 31 a discount of 2J per cent, is allowed. The total amount of rates issued is £2000 above last year's total, due to the increase in the hospital levy, the increase in wages, and the 40-hour week.
The Eastbourne Borough Council has issued 922 rate demands of a total value of £ 10,645, as compared with last year's total of £10,350. A discount of 4 per cent, is allowed if the rates are paid before August 30.
George Thomas and Co., Ltd., today advertise the full details of their sale of nursery stock for Wednesday nest at the Fruit Exchange at 12.30 'p.m.
