OVER-SUBSCRIBED
SYDNEY COUNTY LOAN
PHENOMENAL SUCCESS
SYDNEY, July 31.
The Acting Premier, the Hon. M. F. Bruxner, announces that advice has been received from London that a £2,000,000 conversion loan, issued by the Sydney County Council, which administers the electricity undertaking of Sydney, has been over-subscribed in London by ' £30,000,000. The loan, which bears interest at 4 per cent., and was issued at 99, is for the conversion of city of Sydney debentures and.the repayment of existing liabilities of the recently-created Sydney County Council.
Authorities here regard the oversubscription as phenomenal in the particular circumstances, and extremely gratifying.
