POSSIBLE INFLUENCE

ANGLO-SOVIET NAVAL AGREEMENT

OTHERS MAY COME IN

LONDON, July 31,

The naval correspondent of "The Times" says that England and Russia have reached a naval agreement on the lines of the London Treaty. The terms of it have been communicated to France, America, Italy, Germany, Poland, and Japan.

The understanding should facilitate a ■ similar Anglo-German agreement, for which negotiations have been progressing for months, and may also remove some of Japan's hesitation in conforming to the new Treaty of London, and will thus be an important step towards bringing about agreement among the principal naval Powers regarding qualitative limitation, thereby 'easing the burden of armaments throughout the world.
