OLD COURT TRAIN

The true medieval Court train was restored to modern Mayfair wedding pageantry by a notable June bride, Lady Katharine Lindsay (states the London "Daily fjTelegraph"). The Earl of Crawford's daughter married Mr. Godfrey Nicholson on June 30 at St. Paul's, Knightsbridge.

Modern dressmakers have lost the art of the medieval train, which, stood out round the wearer like a board. It involved months of work, for it was stiffened by other materials which were stitched to it.

A new process was used for Lady Katharine's train. The white and gold tissue was stiffened by taffeta, which was actually glued on instead of being sewn. The skirt was stiffened from the knees in the.same way.

The new train gave greater dignity to the bridal procession. There were no struggles to arrange it and it kept its shape as the bride walked up the church.
