UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE
It is not always easy or possible to move Jarge pieces of upholstered furniture out of doors in order to beat and clean them, states 'the "Manchester Guardian." Where there is no vacuum cleaner these pieces may be satisfactorily treated in the following way. Cover them up with a large damp sheet and then beat them thoroughly with a light cane or carpet-beater. The dust from them will adhere to ihe sheet and can be thus easily removed without flying all about the room. A good rub down afterwards with a cloth wrung out of ammonia and. water will complete the cleaning and bring out the colours freshly.
