LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
"SURPRISE" MEETING
Planned by the members as a surprise to their president and committee the meeting of the Karori branch of the League of Mothers was a great success. : The Methodist schoolroom was crowded,.and as each member of the committee arrived she was presented, with a spray of flowers. Later bouquets were given to the officebearers (Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Guthrie, Mrs. Robt. Gunn, Mrs. Farquhar, Mrs. McNeeley> Mrs. Laird, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Beale, and Mrs. McNaughton) by Mrs. Martin.
Mr. Pegler spoke on the importance of secondary education, particularly to boys. His advice and discourse were of the greatest interest to the mothers present.
A great deal of local talent was brought to light when an amusing reading, "Wanted, a Cook," was cleverly given by the members, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Mathewson, Mrs. Janisch, Mrs. Cryer, and Mrs. Haggitt. * A delicious afternoon tea was prepared and served entirely by new hands, and Mrs. Wood, after presenting Mrs. Martin with a charming posy, voiced the sentiments of all when she congratulated Mrs., Martin and members on the success of the afternoon.
