COLLISION CASE

AWARD OF £1259 DAMAGES

AUCKLAND, This Day.

The hearing of a claim, for damages arising from a collision between a motor-cyclist and a stationary motorcar on the night of December 8 was concluded before Mr. Justice Fair and a jury in the Supreme Court yesterday. The claim was brought by Holford Stewart, aged 29, a tally clerk, against George Alfred Francis Hancock, a grocer.

The evidence showed that the plaintiff collided with the defendant's car, which was unlighted. The jury found for the plaintiff and awarded him £1000 general and £259 special damages. His Honour entered judgment accordingly.

Counsel for the defendant was allowed 14 days in which to move for a non-suit or to apply for a new trial.
