MANY NEW MEMBERS
WOMEN'S SOCIAL PROGRESS
There was a large attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Kelburn branch of the Women's Social Progress Movement, which was held at the residence of Mrs. McLay, Upland Road. I ; . The report showed a year of excellent progress, many new members having joineci the movement. . The election, of officers for the forthcoming year'resulted as follows: —President, Mrs. B. L: Dallard; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames McLay, Shirer, Inglis, and Miss Crump, hon. secretary and treasurer, Mrs. A., G. Radford; committee, Mesdames Arnold, Brookman, Freeman, Hannah, Ironside, Pearson, Purdie, McPhee, H. E. Robertson, and Redgrave. ■ I A vote of sympathy was ps^sed with the Rev. and Mrs. W. Shirer, and family in their recent sad bereavement. An excellent paper, "The Measuring Rod," by Miss Mary Richmond, was read by Mrs. Dallard. Members listened with keen attention to this most interesting discourse on r present-day problems and an animated discussion followed, a great many members taking part. Recitations by Mrs. Castle and songs by Mrs. Boardman were enthusiastically encored. Afterwards committee members dispensed a. most'enjoyable afternoon tea. Visitors from the standing committee included Miss Mary Mac Lean, Mrs. Stewart, and Miss Chappell. A hearty vote of thanks, accompanied by a beautiful sheaf of flowers, was accorded Mrs. McLay for her generous hospitality, this being the fourth occasion on which the annual meeting of the Kelburn branch had been held in her home.
