THE AUSTRALIAN HURDLES

Interest in Australia tomorrow will centre in the contest for the Australian Hurdles, 3-J miles and 20 yards, to be decided on the opening day of . the V.A.T.C. Australian Steeplechase Meeting. The concluding day will be the following Saturday,,when the Australian Steeplechase will be decided. Pooley Bridge, who heads tomorrow's list with* 12.5, .recently gained high honours when he \von the V.X.C. Grand National Hurdles at Flemington and followed this success up a week later by also scoring in': the Doutta Galla Hurdles .under 12.0 at Caulfield..: Full Charge, next on the list with 11.10, was second in the Grand National and he now meets Pooley Budge at 121b bettar terms. Brililarit Son, recently a disappointment, will be making his first appearance in his new owner's colours. Last year's winner. Sixteen Annas,, was an early favourite for the race, but he was killed a fortnight ago.
