STILL A WAY TO GO
(Special from "Irvinglon."}
CHRISTCHURCH, July 30. The two American-bred colts, Bill B. and Starwyn, have a way to go before they can be described as novices of more than average promise. A recent morning saw this pair work over two miles in slow time, the last half-mile in lmin Bsec being the fastest section, and neither had a great deal to spare while showing an inclination to run out in the straight. Both have appearances and breeding in their favour, but it is too soon:-to label them as champions. ,
;An interesting nomination for the coming meeting is Blue Mountain Queen, a mare who promised to reach great heights early in her career. When she was last seen out she gave indications of returning to her best, and it is too soon yet to say that the fulfilling of her early promise is beyond her. ' - ■■",-.• ...v■ ■. .■ .■•■ •■ ,■
