STABLE LADS ON STRIKE
There was no racing at Le Tremblay, : France, on June 10 owing to a strike of the Maisons-Laffitte stable lads, who refused to work till their demands for increase in salaries, holidays with pay, and less work were met. The lads at Chantilly threatened to join the movement, but the strike was settled a couple of days later. The following was the agreement reached at a meeting with the Trainers' Association:—
Minimum' daily salary 40 francs I (about 10s); proportion of lads employed by a trainer to be not less than two lads for five horses.
The organisations represented at the meeting tp settle without delay the question of proportion of apprentices to be trained and the prevention of loss to the lads.
Various indemnities for accompanying horses to the tracks
One per cent, of the prize-money won to go to the stable personnelIn principle the lad who attends to a hoi-.se to accompany it to its races. And no sanctions Cor the strike.
