FIRST UNDER ACT
N.Z. UNION OF EMPLOYERS
ICE CREAM MAKERS
It was announced at a special meeting of manufacturers of ice cream and allied products in Wellington yesterday that registration had- been granted the "New Zealand Ice Cream and Allied Products Manufacturers' Industrial Union of Employers."
The chairman, Mr. F. Wise, said that it was an interesting fact that this was the first New Zealand union of employers under the new Act. The former Act had provided only for unions of employers in the respective industrial districts and for a New Zealand Federation of such unions, but the I.C. and A. Amendment Act. of 1936 provided for straight-out New Zealand unions of employers.
Mr. Wise, who had acted as chairman during the formation period, intimated that provisional officers were retiring. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. W. A. Fisher; vice-president, Mr. F. H. Wright; council, Messrs. F. Wise (Auckland), E. J. Rixon (Wellington); GGourley (Christchurch); J. J. James (Otago and Southland); secretary-trea-surer, Mr. A. W. Nisbet.
It was decided to affiliate with the Wellington Manufacturers' Association for industrial service. ,
