SOQEMAN DEATH SENTENCE

LONDON, May 23.The judicial committee of the Privy Council. Lord Hailsham, Lord Macmilbn. and Sir Isaac Isaacs, dismissed an appeal from Victoria against the death sentence upon Arnold Sodcman for the murder of a girl..
Arnold Soderman was sentenced to death for the murder .of June Eushmer, aged 6£ years, at Leongatha on December 2.' He was refused leave'to appeal by the High Court (which, however, was on the point) and the case was considered by • Cabinet early in April, when it was agreed.to postpone the execution after urgent representations had been made by Sodcrmarj's counsel that he would,'if given the . opportunity, apply to" the Privy Council in forma pauperis for leave to appeal against the imposition of the death penalty. Counsel said he would endeavour to carry out this duty in order to prevent a miscarriage of justice.
