HAMILTON, This Day. Acting on a direction of Mr. Justice Fair and without hearing evidence for the defence, the jury acquitted Roy Vincent Clarke (23), carpenter, of Rotorua, who was charged with stealing tools valued at £8 2s 6d at Rotorua on February 10.'
His Honour held that the Crown had not adequately carried out the onus of proof that lay on it.
