"THE HELL DRIVERS"
The two motor-car drivers, known as "The Hell Drivers," Captain C. V. Miller and Mr. J. Campbell, and Mr. H. Blake Tyler, representative of the Chrysler Corporation, Detroit. Michi-. gan, were present .at a luncheon given by the directors of Todd Motors, Ltd.. and Amuri Motors, Ltd., at the Hotel St. George today. Messrs. Miller and Campbell, who are oh the last lap of a tour round the world, willgive a demonstration- at the Kilbirnie Stadium tomorrow afternoon of- steeplechasing, capsizing, and jumping cars, and crashing motor-cars through blazing walls; The object of these daring tests is to prove the. sound construction of present-day cars. . . ■■ , Mr. Tyler, who presided, referred to the great number of accidents caused in the world today through negligent drivers. "If you kill a man with a car through negligence," he said, "you are no better than a murderer." Before coming to New Zealand he had heard a lot about earthquakes here, but after an interview with the Minister of Transport it was apparent that more people were killed by cars than by earthquakes in the Dominion. At the conclusion of the luncheon a film depicting car acrobatics of the kind that will actually be staged at the Kilbirnie Stadium was shown. Admission to tomorrow's performance will be free. On Sunday the Judgeford team as chosen will play against Karori at Judgeford, and a medal round has been arranged for other members The match with Strathmore Park for Saturday, has been postponed.
