A sentence of one month's imprisonment was imposed on Joseph Ibaba',, a labourer, aged 24, by Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today for assaulting William Aubrey, a man aged 70," on New Year's Eve. He pleaded guilty. , ■

Sub-Inspector C. E. Roacli said the defendant occupied a bach at the rear of the premises where Mr; Aubrey lived. Mr. Aubrey was playing • cards with friends, and the defendant, ■who had had a large Quantity of liquor, entered the room and accused him of saying something detrimental. Heimmediately assaulted him and knocked him unconscious.
