The Miners' Council today endorsed Ihc decisions of the conference of mining unions to hold aggregate meetings on all the coalfields throughout Australia on Wednesday to decide whether the miners favour a general stoppage in sympathy \yith the striking seamen. If the vote is in favour of a stoppage the production of coal will probably cease on Friday. The recommendation of the unions' executives for the consideration of the men is that a general stoppage be instituted at all pits, and that a demand be made that licences be withdrawn from seamen before there is a return to work. (Received January 6, 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The council also agreed to try to extend the strike to land and marine transport unions, and a special subcommittee was appointed to interview officials of those organisations to seek their co-operation. Manned by a licensed crew, the Abel Tasman left Sydney for New Zealand ports, via the North Coast. A steady flow of applications for positions on ships continues.
