Special forecast for Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable winds, with north-easterlies predominating. Weather cloudy to overcast, with rain probable within twenty-four hours. Temperatures warm. The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole issued at noon today is for north-easterly to northerly wind?. These will be light to moderate mainly, but will be freshening at times, and a change to soutnerlies is probable later in the far south. The weather over the South Island will be cloudy to overcast with some rain, but elsewhere it will be mainly fair at first but becoming cloudy to overcast with rain probable within 24 to 36 hours. Temperatures will be' warm.

Although cloudy in many places, the weather over the weekend has for the most part been fair to fine and warm. Pressure, however, has been falling steadily, and this morning a depression advancing from the Tasman Sea was causing rain in the southern portion of the South Island. Winds were southerly on Saturday, but since then north-easterlies have predominated in the South Island and a change to northerlies has gradually become general.

Auckland has had a continuance of fine weather and light south-westerly breezes have prevailed there.

Although often cloudy, Wellington's weather otherwise has been fine and warm with very light winds. The direction yesterday was southerly, but by this morning winds had become variable. The hours of bright sunshine recorded on Saturday totalled 9.5, but yesterday's figure was only 4.3.

It has been cloudy in Christchurch also, and both yesterday and this morning it was misty for a time, a very light drizzle falling on Saturday morning. A moderate southerly breeze prevailed on Saturday, but since then the wind has been a fresh one from the north-east.

Similar conditions have prevailed in Dunedin. A rather strong north-north-easterly was blowing there this morning, the sky being overcast and threatening.
