NEW OPERA HOUSE.
"The Call of the Wild," which is adapted from Jack London's popular novel of the same name, is being shown at the New Opera House. Teamed with Clark Gable are Jack Oakie and Loretta Young. As a young prospector with many hopes but little cash, Gable, who plays under the name of Thornton, meets Oakie, who revels in the name of "Shorty" Hoolihan, a gentleman with plenty.of push—when there's a crowd round the saloon bar. These two set off in search of a lost claim, and on their journey come across Claire Blake (Loretta Young) stranded on the trail. She and her husband, until the time her husband got himself lost, were on a similar mission, so the three join forces. They find the claim, and are busy shovelling out gold dust when there appears on the scene a nasty specimen of the name of Smith, who lays title to the claim. Soriith, however, is merely'an unpleasant incident. He gets drowned on the way back. While Hoolihan is busy recording his claim, Claire's husband turns up at a most embarrassing moment, and shatters a well-developed romance, the picture ending on an unusual nofe. Chief among the supports is a Walt Disney cartoon, featuring Mickey Mouse and a couple of kangaroos in some more delightful nonsense. '■,
