REX THEATRE.
~ Wheeler and Woolsey in "Hips, Hips, Hooray," an RKO-Kadio musical extravaganza, with lots of beautiful girls, hit tunes, original dances, aud spectacular moments, is at the Rex Theatre. It is the most pretentious production yet co-starring these comedians. Lavishness is maintained in cast as well as production for Thelma Todd, Ruth fitting. Dorothy Lee, Adele Thomas, and Jean Connors supply supporting talent. A faithful picturisation of Stuart Palmer's thrilling story, "The Penguin Pool Murder," is the second attraction, and the audience is kept thoroughly mystified right up to the sensational climax of this intriguing drama. Edna May Oliver, who takes the part of an austere schcol-mistress from lowa, proves the best detective of the lot when suspicion falls upon her. James Gleason, Mac Clarke, Robert Armstrong, and Donald Cook appear on the strong cast. There is plenty of comedy to lighten the tender passages of the drama.
