PIGS AND POULTRY.

The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Palmerston North, reports a large yarding of pigs at their first weekly pig fair- of the New Year on Saturday. There was again a very keen demand, particularly for the better class weaners and porkers. Realisations were as follows:—Small weaners, 9s to 12s; better weaners, to 18s 6d; slips, to 20s; stores, 245; porkers, up to 41s. There was also a good yarding of poultry, with realisations as follows:— White hens, 3s 2d to 4s per pair; black hens, 4s 6d to 5s 6d; cockerels, to 6s; ducks, 3s to 6s.
