LONDON MARKET PRICES
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated January 4, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—
Tallow.—Spot market quiet during the holidays; prices unchanged except beef, sweet and/or mixed, 32s to 36s a cwt.
Manila. —Market firmer on improved demand in the Philippine, American, Japanese buying. "X" ' grade for January-March shipment sold at £23 10s. Sisal: Market quiet but steady. January-March and February-April shipments value £28 10s. New Zealand: No change to report.
Peas.—Maples, poor demand; prices have declined. No. 1 New Zealand afloat offered 50s; buyers not interested. New crop "A" grade Tasmanian February-March shipment sold at from 46s to 46s 6d. Blues: Market quiet. New crop Tasmanian FebruaryMarch shipment offered at beginning of December £10 15s. Buyers not interested. Nominal value is £10.
