WIRTHS' CIRCUS

After a- very -successful tour of the South Island, Wirths' Circus has arrived at Wellington and is to open tonight in the Winter Show building. The management of Wirths' Circus has always been generous in the length of the programme provided, and also in the quality of the series'"of thrilling and entertaining acts constituting the bill of fare. Those who visit the circus this time—and doubtless it will be a big draw-card, for the circus has a magnetic appeal to old and young alike —should not be disappointed in either of these respects. Among the. great collection of turns to be presented will be The Seven Hiltons, a brilliant acrobatic troupe specially imported from Europe, including August Hilton, who performs a death-defying triple somersault from a springboard into a chair. Frohn's troupe of four performing sea lions, Wirths' Royal Bengal performing tigers, the De Paul troupe of aeroacrobats, Wirths' midget pigmy elephants, the Nelson Troupe of Flying Novelty Acrobats, Miss Madeline in a thrilling and graceful pad riding act, Funny Danny in a screaming specialty, and, of special interest to horse lovers, Miss Gladys, on Duke, the golden h&rse; Fredga, the Mexican cowboy, champion of all nations at the New York rodeo, 1929; Wirths' ponies and monkeys. Accompanying this great gathering of international artists is Wirths' menagerie, which is always, a feature of the circus. This is the largest travelling zoo in the world. Of extraordinary interest this year is "Lady Betty," claimed by Mr. Philip Wirth, sen., to be the only live gorilla in captivity in the world.
