The Irish Free State Government has announced that coal imported fod the year beginning February 1, 1936j would be 3,114,000 tons. Of this, 3,113,000 tons would be imported front Britain.
As the result of the coal-cattle paci reached last January between Britain! and the Irish Free State, it was anticw pated that the bulk of Irish coal im» ports would come from the United Kingdom. In return this country, agreed to increase the quota for Irish cattle imports by 33 1-3 per cent., and the results of the pact are shown inj the Londonderry Harbour Board's re« turns for the past year. Not sincg 1914 has the livestock industry ii< the north-west of Ireland enjoyed sucl< prosperity.
