OCCUPANTS ESCAPE UNHURT

PALMERSTON N., January 1

A miraculous escape from death was experienced by a party of seven when a motor-car in which they were travelling was hit by an express train at Koputaroa this morning. The party consisted of B. A. Norman, of Opiki, his wife and two young children, Mavis Schwass,. and Neil and Miss Johnston, who were proceeding to the beach for the day. They did not see the approach of the train around the curve. ' The engine hit the luggagecarrier and turned the car over, the occupants crawling out unhurt.
