SEVERAL NEW KNIGHTS
SYDNEY, January 1. The New Year Honours List includes several new knights. Tho New South Wales list includes:— ' K.C.M.G.: Mr. Frederick R. Jordan, Chief Justice of New South Wales. X.8.: The Hon. Arthur King Trethowan, a member of the Legislative Council, and one of the founders of the Country Party. C.M.G.: Mr. John Spence, AuditorGeneral. The Victorian list includes:—' X.8.: Mr. Hugh Berchmans Devinc, the eminent Melbourne surgeon. The South Australian list includes:— X.8.: Mr. Justice Herbert Angas Parsons, acting-Chief Justice. C.M.G.: Colonel Arthur Murray Cudmore, Dean of Dentistry at Adelaide University. The Federal list includes:— K.8.E.: Mr, Charles Wellington Connibere, Melbourne, who has devoted a large portion of his time to charitable and philanthropic work. He and his brothers have contributed more than £150,000 to hospitals and similar institutions during the reign of the present King. X.8.: Mr. Walter Randolph Carpenter, Sydney, founder and managing | director of W. R. Carpenter. Ltd.. meridian! s, Island traders, and ship owners. | For many years he has taken a keen [interest in welfare work for children.
